The Badlands are a feature of Alberta South and the landscape surprises many visitors.
The best access to the Badlands is obtained by visiting one of Alberta's three UNESCO World heritage Sites, all located
in Alberta South,
Dinosaur Provincial Park
near Brooks, Alberta. The strange
landscapes arise, or as the case may be they sink away, abruptly in the prairie terrain. Limestone caps resist erosion
and the hoo doos follow.
Headless Hadrosaur Hide-a-Way
in Dinosaur Park is an excellent way to experience the Badlands and see a dinosaur. Another way to get a close up look at the Badlands
is by attempting a few of the caches located near Drumheller, Alberta.
Drumheller is a featured attraction in Alberta
South and the Badlands are one of Drumheller's best features. Caches like the
Badlands High Roller
series let you visit almost every neat type of terrain the badlands offer. The series will take over hill and under dale and
winds up near a great summer destination. Rain can be hazardous in the Badlands, many trails are impassable when wet
and many unimproved roads fall into the same realm, the clay soil becomes very slippery.
Whichever place you decide to visit leave yourself some time to explore and find other great caches in or near the Badlands.
The landscape is a favourite for children and if you look sharp you might even spot an undiscovered dinosaur skeleton.
That wouldn't be bad at all.
