Local Highlights

If you had to choose one city for a day's adventure when visiting Alberta South it would probably be Drumheller. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie chose Drumheller for a day trip while film making in nearby Calgary and said the people of Drumheller surprised them as some of the politest folk they have ever encountered, a friendly warm and polite city, Drumheller boasts that it is "The Dinosaur Capital of the World" and it is no idle boast. The cityscape is spotted with a lots of dinosaurs, they are on many street corners and in many city parks. If you like dinosaurs you are going to love Drumheller.

Drumheller is noted for being the city the Royal Tyrrell Museum calls home, it is also a great geocaching destination. A series called Badlands High Roller is part of the Great Canadian Cache Series and is very fun to do. It takes you to some really neat spots around the Badlands. There is one strange find called Hole in the Wall. It is a little difficult to get parked and you are high profile when searching but it is easy to find once you are there.

To Remember Frosty is a really nice hike and a tremendously beautiful spot, like a lot of spots around Drumheller. This is a wonderful family cache and your family will enjoy a close look at the Drumheller landscape, highly recommended.
The Cambria Cache is a Traditional (NOT!) but it is another well thought out and easy to find multi, print that page out and take it with you if you go.
There are several real good caches placed within fifteen or twenty minutes of downtown Drumheller. You can spend a while caching this area so make sure you check out the view using Google earth. One active group called Team Serenity Conquest has placed a Rainbow of caches that take you too a lot of cool spots. There is a little more driving but if you want an extra close look at the valley this series is also great. Check out Drumheller to get an idea of what the Badlands have to offer in the way of Geocaching. Nearby East Coulee is the site of Sage Advice placed by legendary Calgary cacher and geocaching.com Charter Member 3jaze.
