This page contain useful Geocaching links. Even if you don't recognize the link by name it is Geocaching related and might provide useful information or fun reading. Geocaching has deep roots in many other activities. Geocaching is essentially an activity that has been enabled by technology, it never existed before because it could not have existed before. There are very few outdoor activities that fall into this category and none that provide the excitement and fun of geocaching.

Geocaching is similar to hiking and many hikers find geocaching after buying a GPS to aid in the pursuit of good hiking opportunities. 

GPS use in many areas eventually leads to an awareness of geocaching, it is technological activity. Go ahead and email any links that you think should be included on this page. I have included links from related activities like Orienteering and The Degree Confluence Project. Many of the links may not contain information directly related to geocaching but for most the relationship will be obvious.

• Earthcache.org - Earthcaches are a variant of virtual caches, which are no longer listed at geocaching.com.

• Waymarking.com - Virtual caches and locationless caches (sometimes called reverse caches) are no longer accepted for listing by geocaching.com. The company that owns that website has created the Waymarking site as an alternate for listing them.

• Geocaching Policy Information - A free public resource of land management policies for geocaching and similar activites

• Tread Lightly! - A site dedicated to the promotion of responsible recreation by all users of the outdoors. Tips and brochures, including a downloadable PDF brochure on responsible geocaching, are available from the site.

• The Degree Confluence Project - The goal of this project is to visit each of the latitude and longitude integer degree intersections in the world, and to take pictures at each location

• Letterboxing - A website devoted to the art of letterboxing

• International Orienteering Federation - Orienteering has been described as "running while playing chess" and "cunning running". Map reading and compass skills are a must, as well as a good constitution.

• Geocacher U - Provides geocachers with helpful information on getting started in the game. It also has excellent information on paperless caching. Home of the 'Let's Go Geocaching' brochure.

• Buxley's Geocaching Waypoint - This site attempts to put caches from various sites onto one easy map

• Clayjar - This site is home not only to the great utility "Watcher" but also has an excellent way to rate your hidden caches on difficulty and terrain.

• EasyGPS (GPX/LOC) - A free application for managing both LOC and GPX file types
• GPX Spinner (GPX) - Geocaching Specific - Shareware application that can convert GPX files to iSilo and Plucker format.
• ClayJar Watcher (GPX) - Geocaching Specific - Freeware application that helps you manage your Pocket Query GPX files
• GPSBabel - A free console-based application for converting LOC and GPX to various other formats. Source code available
• Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (GSAK) (GPX/LOC) - All in one application that allows you to manage GPX/LOC files, upload to your GPS, and convert to various other formats. Uses GPSBabel as the back end.
• GPS Connect for Mac OS X (GPX) - Garmin Specific application that works with GPX
• Spoiler Sync (GPX/LOC) - Spoiler Sync is a program written to help geocachers with PDA's to automatically carry a folder of spoiler pictures for the geocaches they are attempting to find.

• GPXView (GPX) - Donateware application for managing GPX files on PocketPC 2002 or later
• Cetus GPS (LOC) - Free PalmOS application that interfaces with your GPS through a serial port (or connected GPS). It can read waypoint files in LOC format.
• iSilo - Document reader for Palm OS®, Pocket PC, Windows®, and Windows® CE Handheld devices. GPX Spinner can "spin" GPX files into this file format.
• Plucker - Alternate web viewer that works with Palm OS® based handheld devices. GPX Spinner can "spin" GPX files into this file format.
